The crowd at Monday's non-league battle between the Poteau Pirates (Poteau, OK) and the host Vinita Hornets (Vinita, OK), saw Poteau's baseball team beat Vinita by a margin of 7-2.

The Pirates (14-13) will now prepare for their battle against Checotah (Checotah, OK). The Wildcats enter the non-league battle with a 13-17 record. In their last battle, Checotah was overwhelmed by Muskogee (Muskogee, OK), 9-6, in a non-league battle.

Next, the Hornets face the Verdigris Cardinals (Claremore, OK) in a Verdigris Valley battle, on Thursday, May 1. Vinita will attempt to improve on its 4-17 season record. The Cardinals enter the battle with a 24-9 record after their 7-4 non-league win over Adair (Adair, OK).
