Fans at Monday's non-league battle between the Sun Valley Spartans (Monroe, NC) and the host Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC), saw Sun Valley's soccer squad triumph over Independence by a count of 5-0.

The Spartans (11-5) will now prepare for their battle against Cuthbertson (Waxhaw, NC). The Cavaliers enter the Southern Carolina 4A battle with a 7-8 record. In their last battle, Cuthbertson tipped Piedmont (Monroe, NC), 4-0, in a non-league battle.

Next up, the Patriots battle the East Mecklenburg Eagles (Charlotte, NC) in a Southwestern 4A battle, on Wednesday, April 30. Independence will attempt to upgrade on its 4-10 season record. The Eagles enter the battle with a 7-8 record after their 5-0 league loss to Providence (Charlotte, NC).
