Michigan High School Softball - Fruitport nudges Ishpeming

The crowd at Saturday's non-league match between the Fruitport Trojans (Fruitport, MI) and the visiting Ishpeming Hematites (Ishpeming, MI), saw Fruitport's softball squad nip Ishpeming by a count of 8-7.
The Trojans now sport a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they host Hamilton for a Ottawa-Kent - Blue match on Tuesday, May 3. Fruitport will face a Hawkeyes squad coming off a 5-3 non-league win over St. Joseph (St. Joseph, MI). The Hawkeyes record now stands at 11-2.
With the loss, Ishpeming falls to 4-3 on the campaign. The Hematites travel to L'Anse (L'Anse, MI) to face the Purple Hornets in a Western Peninsula match on Monday, May 2. The Purple Hornets enter the match with a record of 0-0.
