Northwest Area Rangers (Shickshinny, PA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Wyoming Valley West Spartans (Plymouth, PA), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Rangers now sport a 6-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Millville for a Mid-Penn D4 challenge on Tuesday, May 3. Northwest Area will face a Quakers squad coming off a 14-4 non-league loss to Canton (Canton, PA). The Quakers record now stands at 5-6.

With the loss, Wyoming Valley West falls to 2-7 on the campaign. The Spartans host Hazleton Area (Hazleton, PA) to face the Cougars in a Wyoming Valley 2 challenge on Monday, May 2. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 5-5. Hazleton Area won 8-6 in their recent league challenge against Dallas (Dallas, PA)
