The crowd at Wednesday's non-league battle between the Mercer Mustangs (Mercer, PA) and the host Laurel Spartans (New Castle, PA), saw Mercer's baseball team beat Laurel by a margin of 10-4.

The Mustangs (9-3) will now prepare for their battle against Wilmington (New Wilmington, PA). The Greyhounds enter the District 10 Region 1 battle with a 7-8 record. In their last battle, Wilmington held off Slippery Rock (Slippery Rock, PA), 7-3, in a non-league battle.

Next, the Spartans face the Northgate Flames (Pittsburgh, PA) in a WPIAL 2A 2 battle, on Monday, May 5. Laurel will attempt to improve on its 5-10 season record. The Flames enter the battle with a 4-14 record after their 9-4 non-league loss to Hillel Academy (Pittsburgh, PA).
