Canby Cougars (Canby, OR) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Mountainside Mavericks (Beaverton, OR), 9-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 4-7 record. They take the field next when they host Hillsboro for a 5A Northwest Oregon challenge on Wednesday, April 10.

With the loss, Mountainside falls to 4-6 on the campaign. The Mavericks travel to McMinnville (McMinnville, OR) to battle the Grizzlies in a non-league challenge on Friday, April 5. The Grizzlies enter the challenge with a record of 8-3. McMinnville lost 3-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Oregon City (Oregon City, OR)
