In Friday's non-league game, the visiting Lufkin Panthers baseball team scored a close 8-3 win over the Porter Spartans.
The Panthers (17-6) will now prepare for their game against Whitehouse (Whitehouse, TX). The Wildcats go into the non-league game with a 19-5 record. In their last game, Whitehouse nudged Jacksonville (Jacksonville, TX), 12-0, in a non-league game.
Next, the Spartans play the Splendora Wildcats (Splendora, TX) in a 5A Region III District 18 game, on Tuesday, April 8. Porter will attempt to improve on its 14-10 season record. The Wildcats go into the game with a 15-8 record after their 6-4 league loss to Dayton (Dayton, TX).
