Newtown Nighthawks (Newtown, CT) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Warde Mustangs (Fairfield, CT), 4-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Nighthawks now own a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they host Darien for a non-league challenge on Thursday, April 6.

With the loss, Warde falls to 1-2 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Norwalk (Norwalk, CT) to battle the Bears in a Fairfield County challenge on Monday, April 10. The Bears enter the challenge with a record of 2-1. Norwalk won 5-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Sacred Heart Academy (Hamden, CT)
