In Friday's non-league battle, the visiting Research Triangle Raptors soccer squad scored a good 9-0 triumph over the Chatham Charter Knights.
The Raptors (2-4) will now prepare for their battle against East Wake Academy (Zebulon, NC). The Eagles come into the Super Six 1A/2A battle with a 5-1 record. In their last battle, East Wake Academy thwarted Raleigh Charter (Raleigh, NC), 2-1, in a league battle.
The Knights (2-3) will now prepare for their battle against Southern Wake Academy (Holly Springs, NC). The Lions come into the Central Tar Heel 1A battle with a 0-5 record. In their last battle, Southern Wake Academy was overwhelmed by Thales Academy Apex (Apex, NC), 13-0, in a non-league battle.
Match Summary
It was a total team effort on both sides of the ball. Natalia Stephens led the way with 2 goals and 3 assists. Amina Hasan and Addison Parker set the tone early in the first half with 2 goals each. Ashley Portillo also hit the back of the net for her first career goal.
After playing in the goal, Haylee Durden scored what was the final goal of the game. Avery Hardister also scored; the third goal of the season.
