In Saturday's non-league game, the visiting West Springfield Spartans baseball team scored a close 9-8 win over the Freedom Eagles.

The Spartans (8-0) will now prepare for their game against West Potomac (Alexandria, VA). The Wolverines go into the Patriot game with a 5-3 record. In their last game, West Potomac nudged Robinson (Fairfax, VA), 5-2, in a league game.

Next, the Eagles play the Battlefield Bobcats (Haymarket, VA) in a Cedar Run game, on Monday, April 7. Freedom will attempt to improve on its 2-4 season record.
