Staunton River Golden Eagles (Moneta, VA) supporters left the game thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Turner Ashby Knights (Bridgewater, VA), 5-2 in a non-league game.

With the triumph, Staunton River improves its record to 6-2 on the year. The Golden Eagles travel to Lord Botetourt (Daleville, VA) to play the Cavaliers in a Blue Ridge game on Friday, April 11. The Cavaliers enter the game with a record of 3-1.

The Knights now hold a 2-3 record. They play next when they travel to Harrisonburg for a Valley game on Tuesday, April 8. Turner Ashby will play a Blue Streaks squad coming off a 10-5 non-league loss to Stonewall Jackson (Quicksburg, VA). The Blue Streaks record now stands at 1-1.
