Meridian Hawks (Macon, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the visiting Taylorville Tornadoes (Taylorville, IL), 16-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Hawks now sport a 6-0 record. They take the field next when they host Shelbyville for a Central Illinois challenge on Thursday, April 7. Meridian will face a Rams squad coming off a 14-1 league loss to Tuscola (Tuscola, IL). The Rams record now stands at 0-3.

With the loss, Taylorville falls to 1-2 on the campaign. The Tornadoes travel to Mt. Zion (Mt. Zion, IL) to face the Braves in a Apollo challenge on Saturday, April 9. The Braves enter the challenge with a record of 5-4. Mt. Zion lost 9-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Teutopolis (Teutopolis, IL)
