Illinois High School Soccer - Athens/PORTA nudges Riverton/Tri-City

Athens/PORTA Warriors (Athens, IL) supporters were pleased Thursday as they observed their soccer team hold off the host Riverton/Tri-City Hawks (Riverton, IL), 2-1 in a league challenge.

Next, the Warriors confront the St. Teresa Bulldogs (Decatur, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, April 8. Athens/PORTA will attempt to move on its 8-2 season record. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a 1-8 record after their 11-0 non-league loss to Auburn (Auburn, IL).

The Hawks now possess a 5-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to North Mac for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 8. Riverton/Tri-City will confront a Panthers team coming off a 4-2 league loss to Gillespie (Gillespie, IL). The Panthers record now stands at 1-9.
