Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Alton Redbirds (Alton, IL), 3-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Piasa Birds now sport a 6-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Roxana for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 8. Southwestern will face a Shells squad coming off a 2-0 league loss to Freeburg (Freeburg, IL). The Shells record now stands at 6-2.

With the loss, Alton falls to 2-5 on the campaign. The Redbirds host Granite City (Granite City, IL) to face the Warriors in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, April 9. The Warriors enter the challenge with a record of 3-11. Granite City lost 14-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Greenville (Greenville, IL)
