Gillespie Miners (Gillespie, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Centralia Orphans (Centralia, IL), 12-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Miners now own a 9-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Collinsville for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 8. Gillespie will battle a Kahoks squad coming off a 8-1 non-league loss to Waterloo (Waterloo, IL). The Kahoks record now stands at 2-10.

With the loss, Centralia falls to 5-4 on the campaign. The Orphans travel to Cahokia (Cahokia, IL) to battle the Comanches in a South Seven challenge on Tuesday, April 9. The Comanches enter the challenge with a record of 0-9. Cahokia lost 24-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Dupo (Dupo, IL)
