Mt. Vernon Mountaineers (Mt. Vernon, MO) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Ste. Genevieve Dragons (Ste. Genevieve, MO), 10-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Mountaineers now own a 12-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Central for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 6. Mt. Vernon will battle a Rebels squad coming off a 15-0 non-league win over Kingston (Cadet, MO). The Rebels record now stands at 8-4.

With the loss, Ste. Genevieve falls to 8-5 on the campaign. The Dragons travel to Diamond (Diamond, MO) to battle the Wildcats in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 6. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 17-0. Diamond won 8-6 in their recent non-league challenge against West County (Leadwood, MO)
