Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Raleigh Lions (Raleigh, MS), 12-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 15-5 record. They take the field next when they host Choctaw Central for a 4A Region 4 challenge on Saturday, April 6. Newton County will battle a Warriors squad coming off a 19-18 league win over Newton County (Decatur, MS). The Warriors record now stands at 6-6.

With the loss, Raleigh falls to 8-12 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Morton (Morton, MS) to battle the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 6. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 11-7. Morton won 2-1 in their recent league challenge against Quitman (Quitman, MS)
