South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting North Davidson Black Knights (Lexington, NC), 7-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now sport a 13-0 record. They take the field next when they host Hibriten for a Northwestern 3A/4A challenge on Tuesday, April 9. South Caldwell will face a Panthers squad coming off a 4-1 non-league loss to West Caldwell (Lenoir, NC). The Panthers record now stands at 3-8.

With the loss, North Davidson falls to 8-4 on the campaign. The Black knights host Ledford (Thomasville, NC) to face the Panthers in a Mid-Piedmont 3A challenge on Tuesday, April 9. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 10-2. Ledford won 16-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Forsyth Home Educators (Winston-Salem, NC)
