The Huntington Highlanders (Huntington, WV) softball nipped the host Russell Red Devils (Russell, KY), 7-6 in Thursday's non-league bout.

The Highlanders (2-5) will now prepare for their bout against Riverside (Belle, WV). The Warriors go into the Mountain State bout with a 1-6 record. In their last bout, Riverside was edged by St. Albans (St. Albans, WV), 11-0, in a league bout.

The Red Devils now possess a 3-9 record. They play next when they travel to Greenup County for a District 63 bout on Tuesday, April 12. Russell will confront a Musketeers squad coming off a 10-4 league win over Russell (Russell, KY). The Musketeers record now stands at 5-3.
