Central Red Devils (Phenix City, AL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Russellville Golden Tigers (Russellville, AL), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Red Devils now own a 24-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Spain Park for a non-league challenge on Friday, April 7. Central will face a Jaguars squad coming off a 3-2 league win over Chelsea (Chelsea, AL). The Jaguars record now stands at 22-6.

With the loss, Russellville falls to 3-8 on the campaign. The Golden tigers host Lawrence County (Moulton, AL) to face the Red Devils in a 5A Area 16 challenge on Tuesday, April 11. The Red Devils enter the challenge with a record of 20-10. Lawrence County won 8-6 in their recent non-league challenge against East Lawrence (Trinity, AL)
