Spectators at Friday's non-league match between the Newton Eagles (Newton, IL) and the host Farina South Central Cougars (Farina, IL), witnessed Newton's softball squad tip Farina South Central by a count of 8-3.

The Eagles now sport a 8-1 record. They play next when they travel to Mt. Carmel for a Little Illini match on Monday, April 10. Newton will face a Golden Aces squad coming off a 2-0 league loss to Paris (Paris, IL). The Golden Aces record now stands at 5-3.

With the loss, Farina South Central moves to 5-3 on the season. The Cougars host Cumberland (Toledo, IL) to face the Pirates in a non-league match on Saturday, April 8. The Pirates go into the match with a record of 3-5. Cumberland won 22-8 in their recent league test against Heritage (Broadlands, IL)
