Athens Golden Eagles (Athens, AL) fans were thrilled Friday as they observed their soccer team hold off the host Westminster Christian Wildcats (Huntsville, AL), 3-2 in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Golden Eagles confront the Buckhorn Bucks (New Market, AL) in a 6A Area 16 challenge, on Thursday, April 14. Athens will attempt to better on its 7-3 season record.

The Wildcats now have a 7-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Lee for a 4A-5A Area 15 challenge on Monday, April 11. Westminster Christian will meet a Generals squad coming off a 4-3 league loss to Mae Jemison (Huntsville, AL). The Generals record now stands at 2-8.
