Athens Warriors (Athens, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the visiting Delavan Panthers (Delavan, IL), 2-1 in a league test.

With the win, Athens upgrades its record to 4-3 on the season. The Warriors host PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central (Petersburg, IL) to battle the Bluejays in a Sangamo test on Tuesday, April 9. The Bluejays come into the test with a record of 8-6. PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central won 8-2 in their recent non-league match against Midwest Central (Manito, IL)

The Panthers (6-1) will now prepare for their match against Illini Central (Mason City, IL). The Cougars go into the non-league match with a 0-9 record. In their last match, Illini Central was edged by Riverton (Riverton, IL), 12-2, in a league match.
