Whiting Oilers (Whiting, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles (Lake Station, IN), 19-0 in a league challenge.

The Oilers now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host River Forest for a Greater South Shore challenge on Tuesday, April 9. Whiting will face a Ingots squad coming off a 18-0 league loss to Griffith (Griffith, IN). The Ingots record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, Lake Station Edison falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Fighting eagles travel to Hammond Bishop Noll (Hammond, IN) to face the Warriors in a Greater South Shore challenge on Tuesday, April 9. The Warriors enter the challenge with a record of 2-0. Hammond Bishop Noll won 23-1 in their recent league challenge against Calumet New Tech (Gary, IN)
