Newark Norsemen (Newark, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Geneseo Maple Leafs (Geneseo, IL), 6-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Norsemen now own a 11-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Indian Creek for a Little Ten challenge on Monday, April 11. Newark will battle a Timberwolves squad coming off a 12-7 non-league loss to Byron (Byron, IL). The Timberwolves record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, Geneseo falls to 3-5 on the campaign. The Maple leafs travel to Kewanee (Kewanee, IL) to battle the Boilermakers in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 11. The Boilermakers enter the challenge with a record of 8-0. Kewanee won 6-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Farmington (Farmington, IL)
