Thoreau Hawks (Thoreau, NM) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Tohatchi Cougars (Tohatchi, NM), 16-15 in a league challenge.

The Hawks now own a 2-6 record. They take the field next when they host Grants for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 15. Thoreau will battle a Pirates squad coming off a 15-0 league loss to Belen (Belen, NM). The Pirates record now stands at 4-15.

With the loss, Tohatchi falls to 5-7 on the campaign. The Cougars host Zuni (Zuni, NM) to battle the Thunderbirds in a 3A District 1 challenge on Tuesday, April 16. The Thunderbirds enter the challenge with a record of 2-11.
