Carroll Chargers (Fort Wayne, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Highland Trojans (Highland, IN), 5-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Chargers now own a 10-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to La Porte for a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 1. Carroll will battle a Slicers squad coming off a 11-6 league win over Michigan City (Michigan City, IN). The Slicers record now stands at 9-7.

With the loss, Highland falls to 9-3 on the campaign. The Trojans travel to Andrean (Merrillville, IN) to battle the Fighting 59ers in a Northwest Crossroads challenge on Monday, May 3. The Fighting 59ers enter the challenge with a record of 4-8. Andrean won 8-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Hammond Morton (Hammond, IN)
