Hammond Central Wolves (Hammond, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Marquette Catholic Blazers (Michigan City, IN), 14-13 in a non-league challenge.

The Wolves now own a 4-9 record. They take the field next when they host River Forest for a non-league challenge on Friday, May 3. Hammond Central will battle a Ingots squad coming off a 12-0 league win over Calumet New Tech (Gary, IN). The Ingots record now stands at 4-8.

With the loss, Marquette Catholic falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Blazers travel to Whiting (Whiting, IN) to battle the Oilers in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 2. The Oilers enter the challenge with a record of 3-11. Whiting lost 12-0 in their recent league challenge against Illiana Christian (Dyer, IN)
