Portsmouth West Senators (West Portsmouth, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host River Valley Raiders (Bidwell, OH), 4-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Senators now own a 9-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Valley for a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 2. Portsmouth West will face a Indians squad coming off a 7-6 non-league win over Carlisle (Carlisle, OH). The Indians record now stands at 11-4.

With the loss, River Valley falls to 5-8 on the campaign. The Raiders host Vinton County (McArthur, OH) to face the Vikings in a Tri-Valley - Ohio challenge on Thursday, May 2. The Vikings enter the challenge with a record of 6-9. Vinton County lost 4-2 in their recent league challenge against Athens (The Plains, OH)
