In Thursday's non-league contest, the Mt. Vernon Rams (Mt. Vernon, IL) soccer team edged the host Salem Wildcats (Salem, IL), by a tally of 2-1.
Next, the Rams face the Carterville Lions (Carterville, IL) in a non-league contest, on Monday, May 5. Mt. Vernon will attempt to advance on its 8-7 season record. The Lions enter the contest with a 10-3 record after their 6-1 non-league loss to Marion (Marion, IL).
The Wildcats (8-12) will now prepare for their contest against Columbia (Columbia, IL). The Eagles enter the Cahokia contest with a 14-2 record. In their last contest, Columbia held off Parkway South (Manchester, MO), 4-1, in a non-league contest.
