Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Greenville Comets (Greenville, IL), 5-2 in a league challenge.

The Piasa Birds now own a 5-11 record. They take the field next when they host New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 11. Southwestern will face a Vipers squad coming off a 4-2 non-league loss to Nokomis (Nokomis, IL). The Vipers record now stands at 11-13.

With the loss, Greenville falls to 13-11 on the campaign. The Comets host Okawville (Okawville, IL) to face the Rockets in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 11. The Rockets enter the challenge with a record of 10-10. Okawville won 8-3 in their recent league challenge against Wesclin (Trenton, IL)
