Providence Catholic Celtics (New Lenox, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Andrew Thunderbolts (Tinley Park, IL), 6-5 in a non-league challenge.
The Celtics now sport a 18-6 record. They take the field next when they host Montini Catholic for a GCAC- Red test on Thursday, May 12. Providence Catholic will clash with a Broncos team coming off a 4-1 league loss to Trinity (River Forest, IL). The Broncos record now stands at 14-9.
The Thunderbolts (9-7) will now prepare for their test against Lincoln-Way Central (New Lenox, IL). The Knights come into the SouthWest Suburban test with a 15-3 record. In their last test, Lincoln-Way Central edged Beecher (Beecher, IL), 2-0, in a non-league test.
