Cheverus Stags (Portland, ME) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the visiting Sanford Spartans (Sanford, ME), 13-12 in a league test.

With the win, Cheverus upgrades its record to 5-5 on the season. The Stags travel to Thornton Academy (Saco, ME) to battle the Trojans in a Class A South test on Tuesday, May 17. The Trojans come into the test with a record of 12-1. Thornton Academy won 10-0 in their recent league test against Bonny Eagle (Standish, ME)

With the defeat, Sanford falls to 8-4 on the season. The Spartans host Kennebunk (Kennebunk, ME) to battle the Rams in a Class A South test on Tuesday, May 17. The Rams come into the test with a record of 6-3.
