Spectators at Friday's league match between the Monmouth Academy Mustangs (Monmouth, ME) and the visiting Spruce Mountain Phoenix (Jay, ME), witnessed Monmouth Academy's softball squad tip Spruce Mountain by a count of 8-1.

The Mustangs now sport a 8-1 record. They play next when they host Carrabec for a Class C South match on Wednesday, May 18.

With the loss, Spruce Mountain moves to 3-6 on the season. The Phoenix host Mount Abram (Strong, ME) to meet the Roadrunners in a Class C South match on Monday, May 16.
