Leonia Lions (Leonia, NJ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Waldwick Warriors (Waldwick, NJ), 5-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Lions now own a 11-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Dumont for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, May 14. Leonia will battle a Huskies squad coming off a 8-5 non-league loss to Pascack Hills (Montvale, NJ). The Huskies record now stands at 12-10.

With the loss, Waldwick falls to 13-6 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to Cresskill (Cresskill, NJ) to battle the Cougars in a NJIC - Patriot challenge on Tuesday, May 14. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 1-15. Cresskill lost 17-0 in their recent league challenge against Park Ridge (Park Ridge, NJ)
