McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars (Salem, SD) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans (Mt. Vernon, SD), 15-12 in a league challenge.

The Fighting Cougars now sport a 4-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy for a Class B challenge on Friday, May 17. McCook Central/Montrose will face a squad coming off a 13-3 league loss to Scotland/Menno (Menno, SD). The record now stands at 7-7.

With the loss, Mt. Vernon/Plankinton falls to 3-7 on the campaign. The Titans travel to Chamberlain (Chamberlain, SD) to face the Cubs in a non-league challenge on Friday, May 17. The Cubs enter the challenge with a record of 0-12.
