In Thursday's non-league bout, the Russell County Lakers (Russell Springs, KY) baseball squad overwhelmed the host Wayne County Cardinals (Monticello, KY), by a tally of 10-1.

Next up, the Lakers encounter the South Warren Spartans (Bowling Green, KY) in a non-league bout, on Friday, May 16. Russell County will attempt to upgrade on its 22-11 season record. The Spartans enter the bout with a 26-7 record after their 3-0 non-league win over Barren County (Glasgow, KY).

The Cardinals (12-13) will now prepare for their bout against Whitley County (Williamsburg, KY). The Colonels enter the non-league bout with a 25-6 record. In their last bout, Whitley County was overwhelmed by Madison Southern (Berea, KY), 8-2, in a non-league bout.
