South Cougars (Salina, KS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Kapaun Mt. Carmel Crusaders (Wichita, KS), 3-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 11-4 record.

With the loss, Kapaun Mt. Carmel falls to 11-5 on the campaign. The Crusaders host Emporia (Emporia, KS) to face the Spartans in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 17. The Spartans enter the challenge with a record of 3-9. Emporia won 8-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Iola (Iola, KS)
