Maranacook Black Bears (Readfield, ME) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Winslow Black Raiders (Winslow, ME), 8-7 in a non-league challenge.

The Black Bears now sport a 10-2 record. They take the field next when they host Mount View for a non-league challenge on Monday, May 22. Maranacook will face a Mustangs squad coming off a 10-0 league loss to Maine Central Institute (Pittsfield, ME). The Mustangs record now stands at 5-12.

With the loss, Winslow falls to 3-8 on the campaign. The Black raiders host Belfast (Belfast, ME) to face the Lions in a Class B North challenge on Friday, May 19. The Lions enter the challenge with a record of 6-6. Belfast lost 6-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Lincoln Academy (Newcastle, ME)
