Metamora Redbirds (Metamora, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Rock Island Rocks (Rock Island, IL), 2-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Redbirds now own a 25-3 record. They take the field next when they host Dunlap for a Mid-Illini challenge on Thursday, May 18. Metamora will face a Eagles squad coming off a 9-2 league win over Morton (Morton, IL). The Eagles record now stands at 18-7.

With the loss, Rock Island falls to 13-12 on the campaign. The Rocks travel to Normal West (Normal, IL) to face the Wildcats in a non-league challenge on Saturday, May 20. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 25-9. Normal West won 14-0 in their recent league challenge against Urbana (Urbana, IL)
