Covenant Christian Chargers (Grand Rapids, MI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Newaygo Lions (Newaygo, MI), 17-5 in a league challenge.

The Chargers now own a 2-5 record. They take the field next when they host North Muskegon for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 25.

With the loss, Newaygo falls to 4-5 on the campaign. The Lions host Whitehall (Whitehall, MI) to face the Vikings in a Western Michigan challenge on Friday, May 20. The Vikings enter the challenge with a record of 1-5. Whitehall lost 6-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Fruitport (Fruitport, MI)
