Smoky Mountain Mustangs (Sylva, NC) supporters were pleased Monday as they observed their soccer team knock off the visiting Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC), 2-0 in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Mustangs confront the Franklin Panthers (Franklin, NC) in a Mountain Seven 3A challenge, on Wednesday, May 4. Smoky Mountain will attempt to move on its 8-8 season record. The Panthers enter the challenge with a 8-10 record after their 3-1 league win over North Henderson (Hendersonville, NC).

The Wolverines now possess a 3-12 record. They take the field next when they host East Rutherford for a Mountain Foothills Seven 2A challenge on Tuesday, May 3. Polk County will confront a Cavaliers team coming off a 2-0 league win over R-S Central (Rutherfordton, NC). The Cavaliers record now stands at 6-7.
