Rodriguez Mustangs (Fairfield, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Petaluma Trojans (Petaluma, CA), 13-9 in a non-league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 10-9 record. They take the field next when they host Vacaville for a Monticello Empire League challenge on Wednesday, May 4. Rodriguez will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 7-3 league win over Armijo (Fairfield, CA). The Bulldogs record now stands at 12-11.

With the loss, Petaluma falls to 9-7 on the campaign. The Trojans travel to Sonoma Valley (Sonoma, CA) to battle the Dragons in a Vine Valley challenge on Tuesday, May 3. The Dragons enter the challenge with a record of 6-12. Sonoma Valley lost 13-2 in their recent league challenge against American Canyon (American Canyon, CA)
