The Newburyport Clippers (Newburyport, MA) softball nipped the visiting Reading Memorial Rockets (Reading, MA), 6-5 in Tuesday's non-league bout.

The Clippers (4-3) will now prepare for their bout against North Reading (North Reading, MA). The Hornets go into the Cape Ann Kinney bout with a 6-1 record.

The Rockets now possess a 13-4 record. They play next when they travel to Woburn Memorial for a Middlesex bout on Wednesday, May 22. Reading Memorial will confront a Tanners squad coming off a 9-3 non-league loss to Tewksbury Memorial (Tewksbury, MA). The Tanners record now stands at 2-3.
