Masconomet Regional Chieftains (Boxford, MA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Saugus Sachems (Saugus, MA), 9-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Chieftains now sport a 10-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to Wilmington for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, May 24.

With the loss, Saugus falls to 9-7 on the campaign. The Sachems host Somerville (Somerville, MA) to face the Highlanders in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, May 23. The Highlanders enter the challenge with a record of 4-10. Somerville lost 13-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Cambridge Rindge & Latin (Cambridge, MA)
