Erskine Academy Eagles (South China, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Maine Central Institute Huskies (Pittsfield, ME), 6-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Eagles now own a 4-10 record. They take the field next when they travel to Medomak Valley for a Class B South challenge on Friday, May 24. Erskine Academy will face a Panthers squad coming off a 5-4 league win over Leavitt (Turner, ME). The Panthers record now stands at 12-2.

With the loss, Maine Central Institute falls to 6-6 on the campaign. The Huskies host Mount View (Thorndike, ME) to face the Mustangs in a Class C North challenge on Saturday, May 25. The Mustangs enter the challenge with a record of 4-12. Mount View won 13-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Winslow (Winslow, ME)
