Cape Elizabeth Capers (Cape Elizabeth, ME) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Gray-New Gloucester Patriots (Gray, ME), 12-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Capers now own a 4-8 record.

With the loss, Gray-New Gloucester falls to 0-13 on the campaign. The Patriots host Lake Region (Naples, ME) to battle the Lakers in a Class B South challenge on Tuesday, May 28. The Lakers enter the challenge with a record of 8-7. Lake Region lost 7-3 in their recent league challenge against Freeport (Freeport, ME)
