The Frederick Warriors baseball team (Frederick, CO), was overwhelmed 9-5 in Tuesday's league outing with the visiting Northridge Grizzlies (Greeley, CO)
The Grizzlies now hold a 5-4 record. They put it on the line next when they host Mountain View for a 4A/3A Longs Peak outing on Thursday, May 27. Northridge will confront a Mountain Lions team coming off a 6-5 league win over Fort Morgan (Fort Morgan, CO). The Mountain Lions record now stands at 4-5.
Next, the Warriors confront the Roosevelt Roughriders (Johnstown, CO) in a 4A/3A Longs Peak outing, on Thursday, May 27. Frederick will attempt to advance on its 6-4 season record. The Roughriders go into the outing with a 5-5 record after their 9-7 league win over Niwot (Niwot, CO).
Game Summary
Northridge defeats Frederick by the score of 9-5 to improve to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in league play. It was the Grizzlies 4th win in their last 5 games. Parker Steckel throws 5 innings and gets the win on the hill to improve to 2-1 overall. Parker game up 3 earned runs and he walk no Frederick hitters and struck out 6 batters. Coby Bevins pitched the final 2 innings giving up 1 earned run and he struck out 1 hitter. The Grizzlies had 13 hits in the contest and was lead by Jace Reid who was 3 for 5 and stoled 2 bases. Gannon McGeen was 2 for 5 with a double, triple and 1 RBI. Colin Gilley was 2 for 4 and scored 2 runs and Bubba Hernandez was 2 for 4 with a double and a 3 run homer to give the Grizzlies a cushion they never gave up. Northridge returns to action Thursday (27th) as they host Mtn View in a doubleheader with the first game a league contest and the second game a non-league game. First pitch is 2:00pm at Northridge H.S. on Kile field.
