Kankakee Valley Kougars (Wheatfield, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Rensselaer Central Bombers (Rensselaer, IN), 16-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Kougars now own a 9-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Andrean for a Northwest Crossroads challenge on Tuesday, May 4. Kankakee Valley will face a Fighting 59ers squad coming off a 5-2 league win over Highland (Highland, IN). The Fighting 59ers record now stands at 5-8.

With the loss, Rensselaer Central falls to 3-9 on the campaign. The Bombers host North Judson-San Pierre (North Judson, IN) to face the Bluejays in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 6. The Bluejays enter the challenge with a record of 6-6. North Judson-San Pierre lost 8-0 in their recent league challenge against Winamac (Winamac, IN)
