The Black River Pirates the visiting New London Wildcats softball squad by a count of 8-4 in Friday's non-league battle.

The Pirates (3-5) will now prepare for their battle against Brookside (Sheffield, OH). The Cardinals go into the Lorain County 8 battle with a 3-6 record. In their last battle, Brookside nudged Firelands (Oberlin, OH), 10-8, in a league battle.

The Wildcats now sport a 14-5 record. They play next when they host Monroeville for a Firelands battle on Monday, May 6.
